Frequently Asked Questions

How long does therapy take?

This depends on the individual. Therapy can range from a couple of months, a year, or several years. Timing can be determined by the client and therapist in order to best serve their needs.

How often should I come to therapy?

At the beginning of treatment, I highly recommended attending weekly sessions to build rapport and get a better understanding of  your needs. As you gain coping skills and insight, therapy can move to bi-weekly, monthly, or as needed.

Do you take insurance?

I do not take insurance at this time. Insurance companies were built through a medical lens and are not client-centered or trauma informed. Typically, insurance companies require diagnoses and other personal information to be shared. Individuals who have experience trauma or are experiencing difficult life issues do not always fall under a mental health diagnosis/disorder. Thus, under my morals and ethics, I do not feel comfortable sharing this information. Please note should you choose to submit a superbill, a diagnoses and other information will be disclosed to insurance companies.  Here are two great articles that speaking about this issue. What do your office hours look like?

I typically work from 10am-7pm Monday-Friday. If you need a session outside of that time frame, please let me know to see how we can adjust.

What is your cancellation policy?

Since the scheduling of an appointment involves the reservation of time set aside especially for you, a minimum of 48 hours notice is required for rescheduling or cancellation of an appointment. If for any reason a session is canceled less than 48 hours prior, the full fee will be charged. You may also inquire whether there is an option to meet virtually if you’re unable to attend an in-person session.  I also understand there will be emergency situation so please communicate with me.

I see you work with children of divorce.  Do you work with current/ongoing ligation or custody issues?

No. due to my role at another practice, I will not work with current ligation or custody issues. However, I will be able to get you referrals if this is what you are looking for.
